SPEAKING OF FASHION SHOWS, I CAN'T LEAVE OUT LOS ANGELES FASHION WEEK

Buyers, press, stylists and other fashion-industry insiders got a glimpse of the diverse scope of Los Angeles design during the many events of Los Angeles Fashion Week. Featuring everything from red-carpet gowns and contemporary styles to premium denim and modern streetwear, Los Angeles Fashion Week offered something for every segment and category of the market.

Grey Ant designer Grant Krajecki took a sophisticated conceptual approach with his collection, shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios:

Spanning three weeks, Los Angeles Fashion Week featured fashion shows and events at Smashbox, BoxEight at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles, and several independent venues around the city.

Check out this beautiful gown from top designer
Kevan Hall's Runway Show:

I absolutely love this ensemble:

The matching fur collar gives this two-piece outfit total sophistication... so classy!

STAINLESS STEEL ISN'T JUST FOR KITCHENS; IT ALSO MAKES GREAT PURSES

I have a whole new appreciation for stainless steel and aluminum!

Stainless steel appliances have grown in popularity in the kitchen. But what about stainless steel in your wardrobe? We found one trend, in stainless, and another in recycled aluminum, that you can throw over your shoulder and carry in high style. The artistic detail really works for me!

Nieja Bend has introduced the Opera Collection, a line of sophisticated handbags and clutch purses from designer Bo's Art Studio in Los Angeles. Each bag of woven stainless steel, features unique details, such as 24K gold plating, 23K gold leaf, copper, brass and even peacock feathers.

This stainless steel wallet, from the Stewart Stand Collection, is durable and resistant to corrosive materials, but to the touch, this material feels like silk. This wallet has a sleek look to it.

The Socorro shoulder bag by Escama, is hand-crocheted in Brazil and features more than 700 recycled aluminum pull-tabs. I love creating handmade items myself-- this bag truly has a uniqueness of its own.

Matching belts for these bags would be really nice-- just putting it out there!

Watch Out Ladies, It's The Invasion Of The Purse Snatchers!

Elderly Ladies Are Getting Their Bags Taken Right Before Their Eyes!

Supermarkets have been put on red alert after shoppers were fleeced by a thief. The move came after a female distracted women pensioners who later realised their purses had been swiped.

The dark-haired woman, described as in her 30s, approached the shoppers in the U.K. The woman, who had a foreign accent and wore a white jacket, asked the victims questions to distract them. A police spokeswoman said: "This is a particularly nasty crime committed against vulnerable elderly females."We would ask everyone, particularly shoppers to be vigilant and ensure they keep their handbags and purses secure at all times."

That's a darn shame, especially that a woman would be in on this foolishness!

A NEW RUNWAY FOR FENDI: THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA!

Talk about doing something unique and different! Fendi hosted the first-ever fashion show in Beijing, at the Great Wall of China. What an incredible location for a fashion show! Models strutted down a 650 foot catwalk, sporting stylish Fendi fashions by Karl Lagerfield and accessories by Silvia Fendi.

Actress Thandie Newton attended the show and looked stunning, wearing a beautiful Fendi gown and coordinated Fendi bag:

Fur made its presence at the show. Although Fendi is known for its very extravagant fur collections, I wonder if animal activists are giving them a hard time...

Thandie Newton is photographed here with Kate Bosworth, who is sporting a very striking fur ensemble:

I'm not sure what kind of animal was used here, but a fake version of this outfit would work for me!

Again, here's proof that bags are taking centerstage-- they stand out just as much as the clothing!

THE BRACELET CLUTCH: A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO THE "REHAB BAG"

The CC Skye Ferante Bracelet Clutch is a good way to keep tabs on your handbag-- no more panicking because you've left your bag behind somewhere with all of your important possessions contained in it. I must admit, the bracelet with the chain attached to this clutch could be perceived as resembling a handcuff, but this clutch is not being marketed for parolees and wannabees! This clutch is very classy!

HANDBAGS TAKE OVER THE RUNWAYS AT PARIS' SPRING 2008 FASHION WEEK

This news doesn't surprise me at all-- apparently, handbags were all the rage at the Paris Spring 2008 Fashion Week. Love the Louis Vuitton bag in the photo above, one of many gorgeous designer handbags featured in the show! Handbags no longer play a secondary role to runway looks traveling down the catwalk. They are now taking center stage! You can read more about it here.

VINTAGE AT ITS BEST: THE MANHATTAN VINTAGE CLOTHING SHOW

If you like vintage clothing, check out this footage from the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show, which was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion this past weekend:

Judging from the video, there were some truly amazing clothing and accessories being showcased, shipped in from all over the world. I love vintage clothing-- wish I could've attended this show!

NEED A LAPTOP BAG?

I currently carry my laptop in a very sturdy leather attache-style bag, but I'm now feeling like I want to find a bag that's cute, functional, and affordable!

Here are a couple that I've been checking out:

The Juicy Couture "Classic" Velour Laptop Sleeve is in the cute category, and it's in my favorite color, brown (expresso, to be exact!).

On the other hand, this Sumo Laptop Bag is also cute, and appears to be more functional. I think the Juicy bag is more cute, though.

Both are under $100.

Does it matter if I choose cute over functional? I'm sure they're both sturdy bags-- after all they are both designed to hold laptops.

Decisions, decisions!

I'll have to think more about this one-- I'll keep you posted!

WANT TO BE YOUR OWN STYLIST? CHECK OUT THIS SITE!

Have you ever purchased separate fashion pieces, only to bring them home and not like the way they look as an ensemble? Here's the answer to that problem!

I just learned about a website called Polyvore.com that allows you to view actual fashion pieces, and arrange all of your picks together on one page. You can then see what the ensemble looks like prior to making a purchase.

You can choose from fashion categories such as clothing, shoes and accessories, to even makeup and nail polish! Pretty clever, huh?

I went to the site and tried it out myself-- it's really fun!

A Purse Designed To Look Like An Ankle Monitor?

It looks like Paris, Lindsay, Eve and others are making an impact on fashion-- but not in a positive way. Chanel has created a purse that straps around your ankle, resembling an ankle monitor. Yes, I said Chanel!

I can't believe that a large fashion house like Chanel would want to combine the message of irresponsibility with high fashion. The purse was introduced this past week at the Chanel Show at Paris Spring 2008 Fashion Week. Mr. Karl Lagerfield himself referred to this purse as the "rehab bag".

It's only a matter of time before knock-offs of this purse will be spotted everywhere-- what a shame!

MORE TALK ABOUT "SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE"!

As mentioned in my previous post, I am very excited about the fact that this movie is currently in production. What I loved most about this series was the role that fashion played. The clothing and accessories worn by the ladies reminds me of something that would come straight from a top designer's sketchbook-- very fashion-forward, racy, and on some occasions, very extravagant. I found myself tuning in at times just so that I could "ooh" and "ahh" at everything!

Looks like photographers from In Style Magazine have been at the production site, snapping away as the ladies appear on the scene, sporting all of their "eye candy". As the photos are made public, I can't help but want to share with everyone all of the gorgeous clothing and accessories being showcased, fresh from top design houses.

Check out the Salvatore Ferragamo Pheasant Feather Bag in the picture above that Sarah Jessica Parker is holding, as she poses in character as "Carrie Bradshaw". One word for this bag: Scrumptious!

Now I'm curious as to whether the movie will be able to raise the fashion bar even higher than the series did. What I do know for sure is that the ladies are being fashioned from head to toe!

Here's a larger version of the pheasant feather bag:
I love this beautiful, exotic bag! You can read more about this bag here.

COMING SOON FOR ALL FASHIONISTAS - "SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE"!

Finally, finally, finally! The ladies from Sex and The City will soon be appearing on the big screen! I must say, they are all looking fabulous for this movie!

Let me tell you, watching this show became a regular date for my husband and I (although I'm sure we were watching the show for different reasons!). No matter what, we always made sure we were home on Sunday evenings in time to plop on the sofa, with popcorn and drinks in tow, and tune in to HBO to find out what the ladies were up to. The show was entertaining for so many reasons: there was so much humor, and the ladies were colorful and dimensional. Their lives seemed fast-paced, exciting and complex at the same time. Their "sexcapades" made the Desperate Housewives look like nuns!

What I loved most about the show were the trendy fashions that the ladies wore. "Carrie Bradshaw" became the epitome of fashion-- her clothing was very fashion-forward, and the color and pattern choices that you might not otherwise consider wearing somehow worked for her. The confidence that Carrie exerted as she strolled down the streets of New York City made it the "in-thing" to look unique. I had never heard of Manolo Blahnik before the show came into existence. And now, I don't know of anyone who hasn't heard of the famous shoe designer.

Here is a peek of some of Carrie's fashion looks:

This outfit is so Carrie Bradshaw! That huge flower would look hideous on anyone else, but she is workin' it!

I love this look! The long socks are cute and very flattering for this outfit. If you're not so crazy about your legs, buy yourself a pair of those socks!

Of course, we can't forget about the handbags!

Word is that the foldover clutch , like this one, is one of many gorgeous bags being used in this movie. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, it is one of my personal favorites!

Check out more pics taken on the movie set by clicking here.

This movie is long overdue-- I'm really looking forward to hanging out with the ladies again!
